干葉県卓球連盟会長臼井日出男

本日から4日間にわたり世界吝大陸を代表しての各協会からご参加のユースの精鋭を一堂にお迎えし当市の干葉ポートアリーナに於いて、第4回地球ユース卓球選手権大会が盛大に開催されますことは、誠にこ同慶に堪えません。私達は本大会主管の光栄を担いましたが、この際ご参加の皆様を心からご歓迎申し上げます。

本大会は、財団法人日本船舶振興会の補助を得て、国際卓球違盟と財団法人日本卓球協会が共同主催で行う21歳以下の世界大会でありますが、世界の卓球界の現状は欧州とアジアに強豪が集中して、相競っております。国際卓球連盟の願いは、これを更に他の大陸にも拡げ、世界の卓球界が一段と飛躍されんことを期待しているものと思います。日本としても、本大会を機会に各協会の選手の胸をお借りして、今春イギリスのマンチェスターで開催されます第44回世界選手権大会での躍進に向けて足がかりともなりますので、参加の選手各位はこの期待に応えて若人らしい闘志溢れるファインプレー及びフェアプレーを展開して、会場を湧かされんことを期待して止みません。

終わりに、主管に際しまして各方面からご支援、ご協力を戴きましたことを、心から感謝申し上げるとともに、選手各位のご健闘と大会のご成功をお祈りして、歓迎のご挨拶といたします。

Greetings

It is may great pleasure to welcome such prominent youth table tennis players fromt the World and hold the 4th Global Youth Table Tennis Championships in Chiba Port Arena，which will last five days from today．We feel honoured to host the Championships．These Championships are the World Events for the players under 21 years old，sponsored by the Nippon Foundationan and organized by the International Table Tennis Federation and the Japan Table Tennis Association．The situation of table tennis in the World today is that strong European players are fighting with strong Asian players for World Titles．The International Table Tennis Federation organizes these Championships，expecting that more and more World Top Players will appear not only from Europe and Asia but also from other continents．

As for Japan, it is a good chance to get foot hold in advance and fight for the World Table Tennis Championships in Manchester. I hope the Japanese young players will make full use of This precious opportunity．Lastly，I would like to conclude this greetings by expressing my heart felt thanks to all people who supported us in hosting these Championships and sincerely wishing the players perform their best skill and the Championships a great success.
